about

“Just so much ATTITUDE ... like a young P.J Harvey, or Patti Smith”
Jeff Jenkins, ABC Radio Melbourne

“Recorded at 10, mixed by noon, on the racks by 4pm.”
The M/O adopted by Jack White for Lazaretto ‘the fastest record
ever’ might not suit everyone, but in the dark and frustrating days
of load-and-repeat lockdowns, cancelled gigs and a wounded
industry, Maggie Alley decided time was of the essence.
Get it out, get it done, get it heard.
She hereby presents ‘Maggie Alley: Live at Brunswick Ballroom’,
off the desk and onto the web; from her head to your ears, in mere
weeks. This new live EP bottles the fire of four brand new songs,
plus a coruscating Patti Smith cover, as they crackled through the air
and around the newly refurbished Brunswick Ballroom rafters in July
2021.
Invited by Matt Walker and the Mighty Lost Ragas to play the beautifully re-rendered Sydney Road space, Maggie owned the stage and blew open a few minds, with long-time bassist Nick Lazzara and brutal new drummer Brayden Becher (Palace of the King, Sillurian) in cahoots. Maggie delivered long and loud, telecaster in hand, in full and undeniable voice.
